Football, Basketball, Baseball and Soccer Tees
Most teams need two kinds of shirts. Practice and fan tees are usually cotton or a cotton blend: comfortable, easy to print and right for parents in the stands. Game-day and summer-league shirts work better in moisture-wicking polyester, which dries fast through a Florida doubleheader. For training-specific fabrics, see our running and workout shirts.
Each sport has its own look:
- Football: custom football shirts borrow from the jersey, with a big number front and back and the team name across the chest. Flag and 7v7 teams often use them as their uniform.
- Basketball: shooting shirts for warmups, plus fan tees with the player's number for families.
- Baseball: we carry raglan-style tees with contrast sleeves, a dugout classic for coaches and parents.
- Soccer: lightweight polyester with an all-over sublimated design on white or light fabric (not a method we offer), or a simple crest and number on a solid shirt.
The most economical setup for a league order of 100+ shirts is a screen-printed shared front plus names and numbers added shirt by shirt; smaller teams print the whole shirt with DTF.
Softball and Rugby Shirts for League Play
Softball runs on t-shirt uniforms, from travel ball to company co-ed leagues. A branded sponsor or company logo on the back above the number is common in rec leagues, and a branded front with the team name keeps everyone matching. Leagues that also run winter nights at the lanes can match the team with bowling league shirts.
Rugby shirts mean two different things. The classic rugby shirt is a heavyweight striped knit with a collar, made for club socials and fans, and it looks best with an embroidered crest on the chest. Match kit is different: sublimation prints hoops, numbers and sponsor logos edge to edge on white polyester, which suits sevens, touch and practice, though it's not a method we offer. For full-contact matches, choose a heavier rugby jersey from the collection, built to take a tackle.
Names and Numbers on Every Jersey-Style Tee
Personalized names and numbers turn a team tee into a uniform. They're added one shirt at a time with DTF, which has no setup fee, so a 15-player roster doesn't need 15 sets of screens. Typical sizes on adult shirts:
| Placement | Typical height |
|---|---|
| Back number | 8 to 10 inches |
| Front number | 4 to 6 inches |
| Sleeve number | 3 to 3.5 inches |
| Name across the shoulders | 2 to 3 inch letters |
Youth shirts scale down, usually to a 6- to 8-inch back number. Our youth and toddler tees cover the smaller sizes, so siblings and junior teams can match. Check your league's rules before you finalize, since some set minimum number sizes or ban duplicate numbers.
Collect the roster as a spreadsheet with name, number, size and youth or adult, and sort out duplicate numbers before you order. Two-color athletic numbers with an outline are easy with DTF. Fire Department and First Responder Shirts
Fire stations go through a lot of shirts: station duty tees, PT shirts, probie shirts, retirement and promotion shirts, and branded fundraiser tees for boot drives and pancake breakfasts. Custom fire department shirts usually put the department logo or a Maltese cross on the left chest and the department name or station number across the back, often with personalized last names or ranks for duty wear.
Many departments specify 100% cotton for shirts worn under turnout gear, because polyester can melt in high heat. Check your uniform policy before choosing a blank. Department patches and logos belong to the department, so get the chief's or union's approval before you upload them. EMS crews, police auxiliaries and dispatch centers follow the same playbook, usually in navy, black or charcoal.
Military Unit and Camo Shirts
Units order PT shirts, deployment and homecoming shirts, reunion tees, ruck-march event shirts and change-of-command gifts. Family homecoming shirts with a personalized "Welcome Home" and the service member's name make a keepsake the whole family keeps.
One important note: official branch names, seals and emblems are protected trademarks, and unit insignia often needs command approval. Most units design their own art for internal shirts; bring artwork your unit has cleared, and check your branch's trademark rules before using official emblems.
Custom camo shirts serve hunting clubs, outdoor teams and units alike. Busy patterns swallow fine detail, so a one-color design in black, white or tan reads best, and an embroidered logo or a leather or PVC patch stands out cleanly against camo. We carry camo tees in several patterns.
Race Teams, Pit Crews and Car Clubs
Custom racing shirts are built around sponsors. Pit crews usually wear a branded team shirt with the primary sponsor across the back, secondary sponsors on the sleeves and the team logo on the chest. When a shirt carries a dozen logos, sublimation prints the whole layout in one pass on white or light polyester; we don't offer it, so we print sponsor layouts with DTF. Add crew roles like Crew Chief, Spotter or Tire Changer to the back, and if your series requires flame-resistant pit wear, ask before ordering.
Car clubs and cars-and-coffee groups want something different: a club logo on the chest and a photo or illustration of the car on the back. Photos reproduce best with DTG on cotton or DTF on blends (we print them with DTF), and a member's own car makes a personalized shirt nobody else has. Karting teams, drag racers and track-day groups across Central Florida order the same way.
Branded Team Gear Beyond Tees
A complete team look usually goes past the shirt. Coaches and team managers often wear team and staff polos with an embroidered logo, and the same polos work for company departments at sponsor events and tournaments. For cool mornings and night games, add team hoodies in matching colors.
Finish with branded caps from our custom hats range, including Richardson styles. Clubs that want a crest sewn on rather than printed can choose embroidered or PVC custom jersey patches. Workplace teams use the same approach for charity 5Ks, volunteer days and company softball: one branded design, every department in its own shirt color.
Season Planning and Reorders
The best time to collect sizes is at registration, when every family is already filling out a form. Add a few spare shirts in the middle sizes for late sign-ups. Because there's no minimum, a single personalized shirt for a mid-season addition is a normal order.
Setup fees are one-time per design: reorders, and the same design on other products, never pay them again; only a design change needs new setup. That means next season's reorder, a youth version or a matching hoodie costs no new setup, while a new year or sponsor on the shirt counts as a design change. School teams and booster clubs can also see our graduation and campus shirts.
Rush orders are available for a fee quoted with your order; tell us your in-hand date and we'll confirm it before you approve. Orlando-area customers can pick up finished orders at our warehouse, or we'll ship anywhere in the US.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find custom-printed basketball t-shirts?
Right here. Choose a cotton tee for fans and warmups or moisture-wicking polyester for play, then add your team name, logo and each player's number. Names and numbers are printed shirt by shirt with DTF, which has no setup fee. Design it in our 3D Custom Designer, or request a bulk quote for 100+ pieces to approve a free mockup before anything is produced.
Can you add individual names and numbers to team shirts?
Yes. Send a roster spreadsheet with each player's name, number and size, and we'll add them shirt by shirt with DTF at no setup cost. Back numbers usually run 8 to 10 inches tall on adult shirts and a bit smaller on youth sizes. Check your mockup for spelling and duplicate numbers before approving.
Do you offer team pricing on custom team shirts?
The price per shirt drops as quantity rises, because one-time setup is spread across more shirts and longer runs are more efficient. Screen-print setup, for orders of 100+ pieces, is quoted with the order, once per design, and DTF has no setup fee. Leagues can ask for volume pricing with their mockup, and our cheap custom tees in bulk keep large rosters on budget.
Can you match official department or unit colors?
Send the Pantone (PMS) numbers from your style guide, and we'll match them as closely as the method allows. Screen-print inks and embroidery threads come in a wide range of colors, and the mockup shows the closest match on your chosen shirt color. Shirt colors like navy vary a little between blank brands, so compare them on the mockup.
How far ahead should we order for a new season?
Start as soon as your roster and sizes are set, since collecting sizes and approving the design usually take longer than production. Lock the design early and send sizes in one list. Rush orders are available for a fee quoted with your order; tell us your in-hand date and we'll confirm it before you approve.
